DC Lake / The Jamuna Resort

DC Lake 


DC Lake is a special tourist spot. There was a long expected demand of the people of Tangail for an entertainment park. At last the former Deputy Commissioner Md. Mahbub Hossain attempted to fulfill that expectation. He planned himself and gave a new form of the district lake beside circuit house.


DC Lake 

He built a charming park to look at. There were three projects to excavate 33.45 acres of lake. Then ghats at the bank and a floating stage in the middle were built. Side by side a beautiful children park was also built on the banks of the lake.

The Jamuna Resort 

The Jamuna Resort is a personal property started in 2002. This resort was established on the eastern bank of the river Jamuna near Bangabondhu Multipurpose Jamuna Bridge. There are swimming pool, gym, health club, bakery, souvenir shop, foreign money exchange and indoor outdoor games. Not only these badminton, hokey and chess are the indoor games available in this resort.

Mawlana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani (Rah:) (12 December 1880-17 November 1976) was grass root  level politician and a hero of Mass Revolution. He played an important role during his life time in 1947 creating pakistan and in 1971 creating Bangladesh. He is well known as Mojlum Janoneta to the people of Bangladesh. He was one of the top level leaders who were the founders of Juktofront in the election of 1954. For the foundation of Independent  Bangladesh he played a special role. Most of his political life he was involved in Mou-ism communist that means leftist politician. For this reason some of his followers called him Red Mawlana.



Mazar of Mawlana Bhashani

He was a far sighted leader and he assuredly realized in the fifties decades that Bangladesh was a neglected state structure of Pakistan. That was why in the year of 1957 he gave first of all walaikumussalam to the rulers of West Pakistan in the Kagmary Conference.

Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) (Bengaliমাওলানা ভাসানী বিজ্ঞান প্রযুক্তি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) is the 13th government-financed public university and 3rd science and technology specialized public university in Bangladesh specializing in science, technology, and business. It is named after the charismatic political leader Mawlana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani. The medium of instruction is English. Every year, almost 8১৫students are enrolled in undergraduate programs to study in this institution. The number of teachers is about ১৯০.

Atia Mosque


Atia Mosque is one of the most famous archeological signs in Tangail District. It is situated in Delduar Upazila 8km away from Tangail town. During  whole year, a lot of visitors come here to visit the place

. Sayed khan Panni, founder of the famous korotia Jamindar, built this mosque in the year of 1608. This is the most ancient mosque in the Upazila of Delduar as well as Tangail District. 

This was built according to  artistic and architectural pattern of both Sultany and Mogal periods’ renowned architect. Muhammad khan was appointed for planning and building the mosque. 

The walls of this mosque are 2.22 meters wide. Atia Jame- Mosjid is one of the traditional glories of all the Muslim foundations in Bangladesh.

Mehera Zamindar Bari is located on a vast area of ​​eight acres, about 18 miles east and 10 miles west of Tangail Sadar. Suddenly you will see a huge white lotus blossoming on a sheet of green grass! Not one, but a few buildings stand as witnesses of tomorrow. There is a touch of nobility in every palace. There is a pond in front of the zamindar's house. If you want you can go around the pond by boat. There is a huge garden. The partridge is wandering in the garden.

In 1890, the then zamindars established zamindari with four brothers. Their names are Budai Saha, Budhu Saha, Harendra Saha and Kalicharan Saha. They started zamindari with the title of Saha. However, the next generation of them all took the title of Roy Chowdhury. The zamindar house is built in four parts.

Mehera Zamindar Bari 


The Mehera zamindar house is basically surrounded by four buildings. Maharaj Lodge, Ananda Lodge, Chowdhury Lodge and Kalicharan Lodge. There are residences, kachari buildings, ponds and fields.

In 1962, an initiative was taken to establish Mehera Zamindar Bari as a Zonal Police Training School under the direction of the Ministry of Home Affairs. In 1990, it was upgraded to a police training center.

How to go:

There are direct buses to Tangail from Mohakhali in Dhaka. Mehera zamindar will go down if he says go home. You can get off at Jamurki bus stand and take CNG to the traditional Mehera zamindar's house.

About Sundarban Forest

The Sundarbans, also known as the ‘Golden Islands’, are a group of islands and mangrove forests situated in the delta of the Ganges, in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, India. The Sundarbans are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and are famous for their salinity, water quality and flora and fauna. The islands have also been home to numerous species of plants and animals that have adapted to life in the mangrove forest. The Sundarbans are an important ecological region, and protect a large area of estuarine delta, which has helped in the deposition of sediment, and the protection of the Ganges from monsoons.

Sundarban 


The name Sundarbans means The Islands of the Moon’s Rays. Covering an area of more than 2,000 square kilometres, the Sundarbans National Park is the largest mangrove forest in the world. The park is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is home to the Royal Bengal Tiger, the Indian White Dolphin, and the Irrawaddy dolphin. The park is so vast that it is difficult to drive for more than a few hours without passing a mangrove forest.

On the west coast of the Bay of Bengal, the Sundarbans is a vast and unique delta formed by the Ganges, Meghna and Brahmaputra Rivers. It is home to the world’s largest mangrove forest, the world’s largest dugout canoes and a unique biota. It is also one of the most endangered ecosystems on Earth, and conservationists are working round-the-clock to protect its forests and wildlife. Celebrate the splendor of the Sundarbans by exploring it on a boat ride, hiking through its mangrove forests and canals, spotting dolphins and manatees, and sampling its seafood.

Royel Bengal Tiger


The largest mangrove forest in the world is Sundarbans . It stretches over an area of about 10,000 square kilometers in the delta region of the Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers in Bangladesh and India. The Sundarbans is home to a variety of wildlife including tigers, crocodiles, snakes, monkeys, deer, and water birds. The Sundarbans also serves as a vital protective barrier against the force of the Bay of Bengal.
